Rainbow Medical Devices provides Viscera Retainers in four sizes: Small, medium, large, and extra large. All the Retainer sizes have a ridged center spine which gives the retainer stability when the surgeon lays the retainer over the organs they are looking to protect during the wound closure procedure.
The center spine is radiopaque so can be seen by x-ray, however the retainer has an eye catching bright lime green pull handle which is attached to the Viscera Retainer and stays outside the body cavity at all times for easy visibility and extraction of the Retainer when the wound suturing is almost complete.
Rainbow Medical Devices Viscera Retainers are patented and have several unique features that lend to easier use and extraction. The ridged center spine is overall narrower than similar devices and is tapered with the narrowest end at the base of the Retainer so it takes less force to extract the Retainer out of the viscera cavity. The rib design on the Retainer lends stability during placement over the organs. It also is designed for the sides of the Retainer to roll up onto itself creating a cylinder configuration around the center spine for easy extraction when the pulling on the pull cord.
